题目:Artificial Intelligence for Industrial 4.0

报告人:Dr. Sheng-Chuan Wu

内容摘要:With the increased complexity of industrial machinery, it’s impossible to monitor and manage the machine manually. Most machines today depend on the many sensors to continuously measure key parameters and to sound alarm when parameters exceed preset bounds. For example, a hightemperature ceramic fabrication furnace may have up to 90 sensors, continuously spewing out data every microsecond. How to make use of this copious data to predict machine breakdown before it happens is essential for these expensive production lines. Additionally, these complex machines often rely on the tacit knowledge from senior engineers for proper maintenance and problem resolution. How to capture such knowledge and apply it automatically is also a critical part of the Industrial 4.0 effort.

In this talk, Dr. Wu will discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) machine learning and knowledge engineering help a US$14 billion manufacturing company in Japan resolve the above issues.

报告人简介:Dr. Sheng-Chuan Wu received his Ph.D. in Scientific Computing and Computer Graphics from Cornell University in the US. He has, since graduation, involved in several cutting-edge software companies. In the last 20 years, he works as a senior corporate executive at the leading Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Technology company, Franz Inc, in Silicon Valley, with responsibility in application development, marketing, consulting and new business development.

Dr. Wu has been focusing on Semantic Technology over the last 10 years. He routinely lectured and keynoted on AI and Semantic Technology at international conferences. Most recently, he was a keynote speaker at KSEM 2015 in Chongqing, at KMO 2016 in Germany, PRICAI 2016 in Thailand and CCKS 2016 in Beijing, and Cypher 2017 Analytics Summit in India. He has, since 2007, conducted more than 20 week-long workshops on Semantic Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Malaysia, China, Singapore,India and Japan.

Dr. Wu has also consulted on many big data and AI projects in Asia and the US. He is currently working with a major industrial company in Japan, applying AI technology to their industrial 4.0 effort.
